CFD Lab

In this lab, we are conducting research on heat and flow simulations involving complex fluids in complicated geometries including moving boundary flows, 3D bodies, free-surface dominant flows, VIV/FSI, biological flows, NEMS, and renewable energies. We are employing and developing modern CFD methods such as particle-based approaches, atomistic, Lagrangian, and molecular techniques. Kazemi Ashtiani's research award for young assistant professors (200 million IRR) has been used to buy three high-speed computers for the lab. Research topics include:
•   Strong 3D interaction of fluids with structures
•   Non-Fourier heat transfer in various applications
•   SPH method for free-surface flows
•   Flow in turbo-machinery such as PDPs and artificial heart
•   Thermo-electro-mechanical loading
•   Flow in/over renewable/historical structures
•   Heat transport in living tissues
