Real-Time Permanent Magnet Torque motor Digital Control using the xPC Target and Digital Signal Processing Starter Kit (DSK)
Abstract

This paper describes real-time control of Permanent Torque Motor (PMTM) using Matlab real time workshop and interfaced TMS320F2812 digital signal processing starter kit (EZDSP 2812). While the time response is plotted on monitor, the controller is implemented in EZDSP board in real time mode to achieve the desired controller. Real time model of PMTM is implemented by xPC target in target computer and controller functions are run in DSP starter kit. Real time control system is taken as controller which consist all elements of signal processing, actuator limits, signal conditioning sensor conditioning, acquisition, signal processing and actuators properties. A suitable real time control system using xPC Target for PMTM digital modeling is developed in this paper. By utilizing the software package MATLAB, Simulink, Real Time Workshop, xPC Target and a visual studio, and suitable  I/O boards are interfaced between the Simulink block as a model of PMTM and the physical controlled system that is developed successfully as a hardware-in-the-loop in EZDSP board. The presented developing procedure shows a technique to implement a real time control system, which does not require to any motor and sensors. Simulation results in such system have good responses and actual outputs agree with theoretical responses.
