Abstract

Superfamily Phytoseioidea comprises four families of Phytoseiidae, Blattisociidae, Podocinidae and Otopheidomenidae. During a survey (2010-2011) on Phytoseioidea superfamily of Zanjan County (North-west of Iran), about 550 specimens were collected. Samples were taken from soil, rotten wood, fungi, litter, and dung. After clearing the mites in lactophenol or Nesbitt's fluid, specimens were mounted in Hoyer's medium. Twenty two species belonging to the two families (Phytoseiidae, Blattisociidae) were identified. Among them two species are the first records for mite fauna of Iran which are signed by two asterisks (**) and thirteen species are new records for the fauna of Zanjan County which are signed by one asterisk (*).
