Simulation and Analysis of the Thermoelectric Generator TEG2-126LDT at Maximum Power Conditions
Abstract


Thermoelectric generators are one of the new energy conversion and harvesting tools. These generators often recovers wasted energy into electrical power by the properties of semiconductor materials used in their structure. This paper investigates the TEG2-126LDT thermoelectric module. This modules that applicated in hybrid energy conversion systems and use for relatively low temperature gradients in the range of (15 to 180 ° C). The maximum electrical voltage this module generates in constant cold side temperature at 30 °c, is calculated by numerical simulations and then the maximum output power is computing by usage of maximum power transmission theorem by changing the hot side temperature in the range of 30 to 210 ° C. The results of numerical simulation have a mean error of 1.97% compared to the data in the commercial catalog, which is in good agreement. Also, the changes in the electrical characteristics of the generator under closed circuit conditions have been analyze in terms of the temperature variation of the hot part. The analysis and related investigations were performed using numerical methods from the perspective of computational fluid dynamics in ANSYS software.
