چکيده

This study aimed to develop a soluble soybean polysaccharide (SSPS) nanocomposite incorporating ZnO nanoparticle (ZN). The nanocomposites were prepared using the solvent casting method. SEM, AFM, DSC and XRD methods were applied to characterize resulting films while the antibacterial/anti-mold activity of SSPS/ZnO films were assessed the activity of the ZNs against selected microorganisms. The results indicated that incorporating ZNs into the SSPS films affected the tensile strength and elongation at break significantly. In addition, the antibacterial, antifungal and yeasticidal activity of ZnO/SSPS films have been approved. XRD results showed a crystal plane of hexagonal ZN, while there was not a good affinity between ZN and SSPS based on the SEM. Mono- dispersed particles with clearly spherical morphology without any voids on the surface was observed using AFM. Fluctuation in Tg and Tm resulted from ZNs incorporation. In summary, the potential of ZNs as a functional filler in SSPS films has been approved.
