About Department of Geography

                                                 

The Geography department began its educational activities in 1992, admitting students in Human Geography-Urban. Development of Geography department in variety of courses, growth of higher education, number of students, research indices, workshop and facility indices and human resources have made it as one of the leading departments in Geography in the country in the past 18 years. The Geography department’s professional courses are as follows:

Undergraduate Courses: Climatology, Urban Planning, Rural Planning, Geomorphology, Cartography.

Postgraduate Courses: Tourism Planning- Spatial Planning of Tourism Complexes, Regional Planning, Climatology –Synoptic, Applied Climatology, Physical Planning, Sustainable Rural Development Management, Spatial Economics, Urban Planning and Geography, Climatology: Climate Change, Climate Hazards, Urban Climatology.

Publication of two professional quarterlies of “Geographical Thought”, compilation and translation of 29 books, publication of 894 papers in scientific journals and some domestic and foreign conferences are some of this department’s scientific activities.

The academic members of the Geography department include 10 assistant professors and 6 associate professors. Also 3 educational directors and 2 IT officers cooperate with this department. This department has 519 students in BA courses, 137 students in MA courses and 18 students in PhD courses.
