Estimating Infiltration Parameter for Simulation of Advance Flow in Furrow Irrigation
Abstract


Abstract Estimating correct infiltration equation is most essential parameters to design and evaluate surface irrigation system. Several methods have been proposed to estimating Kostiakov equation infiltration parameter which mostly used for this purpose, due to method of irrigation. This paper analyzes four different methods to determine for two furrow sizes (0.75 meter and 0.65 meter furrow wide) the constant of the kostiakov model: the two-point, Advance point, one-point and optimizing methods, Based on representative data of three furrow sets under no crop condition (flow rate of 0.6, 1 and 1.3 L/s) at Agricultural research field of university of Tehran, located in Karaj, Iran. Advance flows were simulated by NRCS-Surface and WinSRFR2.1 software's. Results show two point and optimizing methods were the best fit, one-point method under estimate and furrow Advance method were overestimating.
