Investigation of strain and stress parameters in simulation of Double-base solid propellant
Abstract


In this research the production of Double-base propellant was simulated by using the Abaqus software. The most important methods to synthesis of these propellants are extrusion and solvent casting. The Abaqus software which using the finite element method was used to simulate the solid propellant extrusion. Physical and mechanical properties of this kind of propellant extracted from different references and used in simulation. Results showed the maximum stress at the existence throat which has the most deformation. The maximum stress was about 1.1E6 Pascal and minimum stress was about 8.7E4 Pascal which achieved at out of die after deformation. The minimum strain was calculated at the bottom of the propellant that does not enter the plastic deformation zone and the value was about 4.5E-2. On the other hand the maximum strain was about 5% in plastic deformation zone.
