Sizing of Dual Mechanical Ports Machine Based Series-Parallel Hybrid Electric Vehicle
چکيده

Series parallel configuration of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) has nowadays become an essential concern of auto industries. For this application the dual mechanical port (DMP) type of electric machines seems to be the most interesting device as it integrates the electric motor and generator as well as the planetary gear into one machine. This paper deals with sizing of different components of series-parallel hybrid electric vehicle that utilizes the dual mechanical electric machine (DMP) as its speed and torque converter. It presents an optimal design of Hybridization Factor (HF) and hence an adequate size for internal combustion engine (ICE) based on minimum necessary battery pack and power electronic devices size. Assuming ICE works at its optimum operational point in order to achieve maximum fuel efficiency and/or minimum gas emission generation, results have shown that for hybrid vehicle based on dual mechanical ports machine, there is an optimum value for  minimizing the battery pack size and/or power rating of the back-to-back inverters. Simulation results have been presented for verification.
