Wide-scan Phased Antenna Array Based on Cavity-Backed ELC-Slot Microstrip Patch Antenna Element |
This paper presents a novel wide-scan phased array antenna based on metamaterial (MTM) electrical LC (ELC) slot and L-probe fed cavity-backed patch antenna element in X-band. The antenna uses the ELC-slot as the main radiating element and a meta-tool to reduce mutual coupling between array elements by eliminating horizontal far-field radiation. Applying the proposed MTM ELC-slot in the patch to improve impedance matching and widening of scanning range is simulated and investigated. The simulation results have shown wide-angle impedance matching up to 80˚ in both E-and H-planes over 6.25% bandwidth in X band. |
