About Department of Mathematics

Establishment year: 1991

Goals of the department based on the fields of study:

B.Sc. of Mathematics:

Training high school mathematics teachers (this course is no longer active).

▬ B.Sc. and M.Sc. of Pure Mathematics:

Training mathematics experts that are able to continue their study as researchers or university teachers.

B.Sc. and M.Sc. of Applied Mathematics:

Training mathematics experts in order to have ability to analyze programming, economic and industrial problems, and also to be able to continue their study in higher levels.

Ph.D. of Mathematics:

Training proficient of mathematics in order to prepare them as researchers or university teachers.

Primary aim of the department was to train high school mathematics teachers with bachelor degree, and 220 teachers have been graduated from the department since 1991 to 1998. The department has been developed by admissions of 35 students, each year,  in pure mathematics since 1992, and 35 students in applied mathematics since 2000. Also the department admitted 52 students in the field of mathematics education, with B.Sc. degree, in 2003.

From 2010, according to the approval of Mathematics and Applications field, 70 B.Sc. students are admitted by the department yearly. This field is to be replaced by pure and applied mathematics in B.Sc. degree.

The department set M.Sc. degree in pure and applied mathematics up in 2000 and 2002, respectively, by admissions of 9 students yearly. And, now the project has been extended by admissions 50 students yearly. In addition, Ph.D. courses of mathematics have been established since 2008.
