EFFECT OF SALT, SALVIA EXTRACT, POTASSIUM NITRATE ON SEED GERMINATION AND GROWTH OF SCARLET SAGE (SALVIA COCCINEA).
اثر نمک، عصاره گیاه سلوی و نیترات پتاسیم بر جوانه زنی و رشد گیاه سلوی (Salvia coccinea).
Abstract


Scarlet sage or Blood Sage is a very attractive annual wild flower perfect for the hummingbird garden. Scarlet Sage is a deer resistant wildflower that will tolerate salt spray and salty soil and like most Salvia loves heat. Salvia coccinea prefers sharp-draining soil. This experiment was conducted in laboratory and greenhouse of horticulture department of Tehran University. Treatments including: EC; 2, 3, 4 mmho/cm, KN03 2, 3, 4 g/L, salvia extract and contol (water) in complete randome design. Results showed that seed germinated number of scarlet sag increased in 2g/L KN03 and EC; 4 mmho/cm had minimum effect. Epicotyls and hypocotyls length was more in KNo3 2g/L and floret number in each florescence increased in nitrate potassium with 2, 3 g/L concentration later. Scarlet sag had minimum shoot growth and floret number with increasing the EC and potassium nitrate concentration.
