Abstract

Today, it is argued about tourism as one of the most important guidelines of the programming of the regional permanent development that this permanent development is performed to prevent the destructive effects of the tourism activities on environment. Assessment of abilities of ecotourism and geo-tourism of regions in order to use tourism as a tool is considered to achieve this purpose. Palangan village, as a virgin ecotourism and geo-tourism zone, exists among mountain range Zagros. Existence of ecologic geomorphology typical figures as tourism attractions in this zone is indicating high capabilities and abilities of the region to attract tourism and geo-tourism. This research has been presented in order to assess ecotourism and geo-tourism potentialities of Palangan village based on the analytic model SWOT. This paper is provided to study ecotourism, geo-tourism abilities and capabilities, and to compile the best strategy in order to improve and progress the tourism management function in this zone. The research method has been based on library method and field studies. In library method, it is use direct observations, pictures, interview and questionnaire. The questionnaires are answered by experts and specialists and, finally, internal and external factors are analyzed and assessed, and then it is deduced guidelines of these factors. The final results derived from assessment of internal factors show that strength points of tourism of the zone has been more than weak points, also, deducting from the assessment matrix of external factors is indicating a little superiority opportunities than threats. Consequently, considering these factors, the offensive guideline attained is such that it can best use the opportunities and strength points of the zone in order to remove weaknesses and threats.
