Optical Absorption of Disordered Graphene Nanoribbons

Abstract


Optical absorption spectrum of zigzag and armchair graphene nanoribbons is very sensitive to the width of the ribbon and the shape of edges. In this paper, based on the tight binding model, first, we investigate the optical absorption in pure graphene nanoribbons. Next, we study the optical absorption of the system in the presence of line disorder (including boron and nitrogen impurities) at its edge. Our results show that the number of absorption peaks and also the absorbed energy range increases compared to the pure case.
