Abstract

During a survey on stigmaeid mites of Northwestern Iran (2004-2006), some specimens from this family were collected on olive in Moghan region (Ardebil province) in July 2006. This mite was identified as Agistemus collyerae Gonzalez-Rodriguez. This is the first record of this species from Iran. The species was collected with eriophyid mites on olive leaves demonstrating some relations between it and Eriophyidae. Thus it is important to intensify the surveys of Agistemus species and associated eriophyids in the diverse regions of Iran.
