UI GreenMetric World Universities Ranking 2015
University of Zanjan has been ranked 69th in the UI GreenMetric World Universities Ranking 2015



University of Zanjan with the total score of 5,746.00 has been ranked 69th in the UI GreenMetric World Universities Ranking 2015, among 407 universities of the world in terms of sustainable development indicators. University of Nottingham with the total score of 7,267.00 became the world’s best green campuse.

On March 21, Dr. Jamshidi, President of the University and Dr. Karamidehkordi, Director of International Scientific Cooperation Department attended the “2nd International Workshop on UI GreenMetric 2016 - University of Indonesia” and presented a paper entitled " Sustainability Indicators in the University of Zanjan".

According to UI GreenMetric World Universities Ranking 2015, University of Zanjan with the total score of 5,746.00 has been ranked 69th among 407 universities of the world in terms of sustainable development indicators. University of Nottingham with the total score of 7,267.00 became the world’s best green campuse.

UI GreenMetric is an UI innovation in the last 6 years to build a sustainable environment. It has ranked universities throughout the world according to appointed indicators of campus environmental issues. UI GreenMetric Ranking is the first and the only ranking that measure each participating university’s commitment in developing an ‘environmentally friendly’ infrastructure. This year, the methodology to measure the university points has been added with the newly introduced Carbon Footprint evaluation, to trigger many universities to look into this issue in their campus. This measurement is tightly related to the 6 (six) main indicators:

1.      Setting and Infrastructure (SI) (15%)

2.      Energy and Climate Change (EC) (21%)

3.      Waste (WS) (18%)

4.      Water (WR) (10%)

5.      Transportation (TR) (18%)

6.      Education (ED) (18%)

The indicators of UI GreenMetric have been accepted and applied as a measurement not only for the reputable universities in developed countries, but also in a developing countries. This ranking is an effort in promoting sustainability in campuses and also in involving stakeholders in any kind of effort to create a sustainable environment. It also helps to increase the awareness to save energy, use water wisely, manage the waste, and arrange an environmentally friendly transport system yet expands the green criteria through the education system. Based on research and survey conducted by UI GreenMetric team, 407 universities from 65 countries have participated and use the performance indicators as their measurement tools of achievement in providing a conducive learning environment.
