Live Connection with CERN
the European Organization for Nuclear Research in Switzerland

On 8 November 2016, First Symposium on Robotics and Mechatronics was held at the University of Zanjan.

In this three-day symposium 25 projects in the field of Robotics and Mechatronics competed together. The jury consisted of 15 faculty members from the departments of Electronics, Computer Science, Mechanics and Physics. In this symposium, four projects were selected as the top ones. Lecturers in the symposium were Dr. Mohsen Afsharchi, Dr. Farhoud Ahani and Dr. Mahmoud Joz Tavassoli, Iranian researcher in European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). They presented their lectures on Robotics, Nuclear Physics and Scientific findings. Dr. Joz Tavassoli, in his lecture on “Detectors and Sensors", mentioned that some projects with huge investments are done in the CERN research center. He added, “Just one country cannot afford such projects. Nearly 35 countries participate in the financing of these studies.” He presented his lecture with live audio and video communication with CERN in Switzerland.

Founded in 1954, the CERN laboratory sits astride the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva. It was one of Europe's first joint ventures and now has 22 member states. At CERN, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. They use the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments to study the basic constituents of matter – the fundamental particles.
