Abstract

The main aim of this descriptive- correlation research was to factors determining the farmers’ attitudes towards water resources sustainable management. The statistical population of the research consisted of all farmers’ heads of households in Komijan County (N= 5100). According to the Bartlett et al. (2001), 300 of them were selected by multistage sampling. A questionnaire was used to collect the data. The content validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by a panel of experts. A pilot study was conducted to establish the reliability of the questionnaire. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the main scale of the questionnaire was at an appropriate level. The results indicated that three variables of cultivate crops on suitable time, weed control through non-chemical methods like weeding and graze on the farm and use of straw, plastic and composted manure as a cover to maintain soil moisture, achieved the highest ranks among the others variables.  Also, the results showed that the most frequent of the respondents (44.3 percent) have implemented the measures related to the sustainable management of water resources in moderate level and less than 10 percent of farmers have implemented the measures at high levels.
