Abstract

In this paper, Firstly Avicenna’s prophecy proof is reviewed by descriptive-analytic method in his works and then, Allameh Tabatabai's innovative analysis based on the theory of Etebar is presented. In Ibn Sina's opinion, man is a civil being by nature and has to join the community to satisfy his need. Human social participation leads to discords that can only be resolved by law and justice. According to Muslim scholars, the only law that provides for both the life and the resurrection of human beings compatibly is the Shari'a law. They prove the necessity of prophecy on this foundation. Based on the theory of Etebar, Allameh Tabatabai has a different view of human social life and the role of religion in this field. Hence, he offers a different reading of the Avicenna’s argument. On the other hand, Allameh's theory of Etebar in Al-wliya's treatise differs from his other works and this difference offers another novel reading in the context of theory of Etebar. He takes some distance from the traditional reading of this argument in Al-wliya's treatise. According to the author's inquiry Allameh's reading of the Avicenna’s argument especially in Al-wliya's treatise, has not been investigated before.
