A novel efficient route to 4-phenyl-quinoline derivatives from 2-aminobenzophenone and electron-poor acetylenic compounds is described in the presence of solid catalysts in solventfree conditions. The stereochemistry of the dimethyl 4-phenyl-quinoline-2,3-dicarboxylate was established by X-ray single crystal structure analysis. |
