The Relationship between Research and Teaching Performance of Faculty Members and Students academic progress of Faculty of Agriculture at Zanjan University
Abstract


Education and research are two core components university of faculty. The purpose of this descriptive study was to investigate the relationship between education and research performance and their relation- ship with the class performance of students during the academic year of 2007 to 2011. The statistical population of the study consisted of all 60 faculty member who were working full time at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zanjan. Secondary data of the university databases were used after securing their validity and accuracy. Analysis of data revealed that there are no meaningful correlation between research performance, teacning quality and class performance of students. But, research performance had a meaningful correlation with numbers of Ph.D and MSc. course taught by the faculty member. Mann Whitney test applied revealed that there was no significant difference between teaching quality and research pertformance of faculty members graduated from within the country universities and those universities abroad. However, faculty members with different employment status had meaningful dif- ferece teaching quality but, no meaningful differenc was found in their research performanc. Regression analysis showed that two variables: number of published journal articles (ISC), and number of the stu- dents were explained 16 percent of variance of faculty members teaching quality.
