Research Course Report of Biology Faculty, Department of Science

َArranged by the International Scientific Cooperation Office of the University of Zanja, the course titled Familiarization with Novel Bio-systematic Techniques in Scorpions Order was held by Professor Ersen Aydin Yağmur, The Faculty Member of Celal Bayar University, Izmir, Turkiye, to train Post-graduate students in Animal Bio-systematic, Hosting the University of Zanjan. The mentioned course, which lasted for 4 days commencing from September 17^th 2022, was orchestrated and presided by Dr. Mohammad Moradi Gharakhli.

The course encompassed:

• The rationale behind and approaches for dislocating aqueous scorpions' ancestors from marine to land habitats;
• The chitin structure changes in land;
• Introducing the families of scorpions' order around the globe;
• Introducing the identified families, race and species of scorpions in Iran;
• Introducing different alive scorpion hunting methods during the day and night;
• Keeping, breeding and growing methods of scorpions in laboratories;
• The importance of scorpions in animal bio-systematic and medicine (e.g. in treating certain diseases and antibody production utilizing scorpion poison);
• Farming, breeding, and venom milking as a business for experts;                                                                        

• Investigating the latest bio-systematic methods (cytogenetic, and molecular) implementation on hunted living samples in laboratories;
• Teaching the students methods of differentiating 35 species of 3 families of scorpion order existing in the laboratories from morphological, morphometrical, and biometrical aspects.
• Familiarizing students with new methodologies in mDNA- and DNA-analysis studies;
• Wrap-up and conclusion of the course by Dr. Mohammad Moradi Gharakhlou
