University of Zanjan ranked first as a Green University in the country and was awarded a plaque by Vice President and Head of Environmental Protection Agency. During a ceremony with the participation of Dr. Ebtekar, Vice President and Head of the Environmental Protection Agency, Dr. Vahid Ahmadi, Deputy of Research and Technology of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, Green Universities of the country were honored.

According to some factors such as training actions, standardization of healthy spaces at the university, energy consumption, lighting, heating and cooling installations, water consumption, transportation, recycling of raw materials, establishment of department of the environment at the university, collaboration with environmental organizations outside the university, organizing specialized laboratories, running workshops on environmental issues, working with environmental NGOs, presenting scientific papers in the field of environment and students' writing dissertations on the environment as well, have made the University of Zanjan rank first as a Green University in the country.

It is worth noting that according to the ranking announced by the UI GreenMetric 2015, at the beginning of this year, the University of Zanjan ranked 69 among 407 universities of the world in terms of sustainable development indicators.
